Explores how the rural nonfarm economy can contribute to overall economicgrowth in developing countries and how the poor can participate in thissegment of the economy. This work reviews an array of studies of the ruralnonfarm economy in order to summarize empirical evidence, explore policyimplications, and identify research priorities.
