Growth Dynamics in New Markets is an engaging case study on introducing a product into a new market in the presence of a rival. Accompanied by a simulation game and series of simulation models, the reader assumes the role of top-level manager challenged to plan and execute a strategy and product introduction, to discover relevant questions and to use the models to answer them. Different approaches for enhancing the models and applying them to real problems are then discussed; these simulation models build on each other to successively arrive at a more comprehensive understanding of product uptake and market development. This is the first book that addresses a substantive management challenge and develops an action-oriented, pragmatic understanding of the dynamics in business by means of an iterative teaching approach.
