The End of the World:Contemporary Philosophy and Art (Future Perfect: Images of the Time to Come in Philosophy, Po) '18
内容
Omnipresent in popular culture, especially in film and literature, the theme of the 'end of the world' is often rejected from contemporary philosophy as hysterical apocalyptism. This volume attempts to show that, on the contrary, it is vital that we address the motif of the 'end' in contemporary world - but that this cannot be done without thinking it anew. The book offers a philosophical interpretation of the reasons for the disintegration of the common world today - and means for facing this dissolution. It goes on to present a philosophical discussion around the meaning and usage of the expression 'end of the world' and explores a range of problems that representations of the end of the world in cinema and literature imply.
