Nonlinear Second-order elliptic and parabolic equations arise in the theory of differential equations and in numerous applications. Attempts to study consistently such equations in the past have been hampered by the lack of general techniques derived froman unifying standpoint. The volume presents a general theory for solving nonlinear second-order elliptic and parabolic equations which uses neither probabilistic nor geometrical notions.
