Though Aphorismi Confessariorum was the first Kirishitan Publication printed in Japan in 1603, it had not been recognized until the beginning of the 20th century. It is exactly "only book in the world" since we can find the book only in National Library of China.
The original Aphorismi Confessariorum was written by Manuel de Sa (1528-1596), who was the famous theologian and Biblical scholar, and firstly published in Venice in 1595. After his death it was reprinted many times and became so called a best-seller. This original book was reproduced in 1603 in Nagasaki as a Kirisitan Publications based on the title published in 1600 in Madrid.
325 categories are arranged in alphabetical order from Abbas to Xenodochium. This book collects many wisdoms or resourceful sentences of the sages of old to show what is forgiveness. That's why it has been called "a collection of maxims and proverbs".
