Emil Orlik was an Impressionist painter, an etcher and lithographer from Prague. He visited Japan twice at the time of “Japonism” and learned technique of “Ukiyoe” and Japanese woodblock prints. Using etching and lithographic technique, he created 16 color plates of Japanese sceneries he saw during his trips. They were published as “Orlik, Emil: AUS JAPAN” limited to 50 copies.
At the reproducing, mounting and folding case are authentically re-created in details. To explain impacts to European “Japonism” and to help tracing life and creative activities of Orlik, a commentary is provided in Japanese, German and English.
