In 1909 Japan took over responsibility for judicial matters in the Empire of Korea, which had gained independence from China in 1897. Chosen Koto Hoin (the Korean High Court) established in 1910 was the highest court in the judicial system of the Government-General of Korea, and this volume is the record of its judgments. As such it is a vital resource for the study of civil and criminal law in Korea under Japanese control, yet it is held by only a handful of institutions inside and outside Japan. This edition constitutes an almost complete reproduction.
To coincide with its release, Yushodo has also reissued Chosen Koto Hoin Hanrei Yoshi-rui Shu (the Summary of Korean High Court Cases) by Category to serve as an index by subject and court date up to 1942.
