The Trans-Pacific is an international weekly journal launched in 1919 by an American journalist, B.W. Fleisher.
It intended to report news on economy, industry and commercial status of Far East and Pacific Rim. It was published in Japanese, Chinese and English for the first 8 years, afterwards in English only, and continued vigorously to report topical news for business world.
It focused on various effects of business activities on the societies and peoples in Oceania area. Analytical articles were written from very professional viewpoints, and contributors are leading authorities of economic or political
world including Okuma Shigenobu, Takahashi Korekiyo, Hara Takashi, Sun Yat-sen, Robert Lansing, Herbert Hoover and so on.
It includes not only articles on economic matters, but also political situation in general and column on Japanese culture, with numerous original photos and advertisements from major companies. It transcends the limit of national histories, and will be an invaluable resource for international history,
international economic history, international management history, history of interchanges in pacific area, studies on immigrants and transnational studies.
